Winnie Hsia, CEO & Instructor – Sky Candy
Having started training aerial arts in 2009 with zero background in dance or gymnastics, Winnie understands the difficulty of being a true beginner. After a frustrating seven weeks of being unable to climb a silk, Winnie re-approached the apparatus and found herself able to ascend! The magic of that moment has never left her. Since then, Winnie has had the opportunity to train with amazing instructors from around the country to hone her aerial skills and her skill in teaching others. Her studio, Sky Candy, which she opened in 2010, is now Austin’s premiere aerial and circus arts studio, attracting instructors and students from around the country. Their mission of “circus for all” is pervasive throughout their studio culture and is a key driver of their business model. As a performer, Winnie has most recently played the lead role of Charlotte in the Zach Scott Theater for Families’ 2016/2017 season production of Charlotte’s Web. In that award-winning production, Winnie got to sing, act, and perform aerial arts as the titular character in over 130 performances that reached over 20,000 children.
