Being inundated with information has become just another part of daily life, and a good story helps to cut through that noise.
However, while stories are an important tool in connecting your audience to your message, unless your story is clear it could cause more damage than good – confusing your audience about what you’re actually trying to tell them. Understanding your story at it’s most basic level is key to being able to articulate it without distractions.
In this workshop, participants will examine the core themes in their stories to strip them down to their essence. Through discussion and activities, we’ll cover differentiating between what an audience needs to know vs. what we want them to know, what amount of story detail is appropriate across different channels, when to begin adding elements back in, and how to use them to effectively build a meaningful narrative.
You should attend this workshop if you consistently use two pages where two paragraphs will do.
In this workshop, attendees will gain skills and techniques to distill their message down to its core (and potentially expand it back out).
Experience Level Needed for Workshop
No previous knowledge or experience needed; however, attendees ideally will have a story/message they are trying to tell already in mind (a short period will be provided to brainstorm).
