AprilJo Murphy is a writer, editor, and sometimes teacher. She is committed to stories, to helping others find their voices and meet their audiences. Although the stories and voices she has worked with have evolved through the years from college students to Fortune 500 CEOs, throughout each project, AprilJo has consistently helped others develop, refine, and share their ideas.
AprilJo earned a PhD in Creative Writing with a Nonfiction focus from the University of North Texas that provides a solid foundation for her word-nerd recommendations and informs the partnerships that she creates. She meets people where they are as writers and guides them to a place where the desires of author, audience, and market meet.
Dr. Murphy is the author of Beyond Normal: How to Make Your Writing Devilishly Good (SUNY Fredonia Press, 2008) and a Staff Writer for The American Genius. Her creative work has been published in Autostraddle, Women’s Studies Quarterly, Sinister Wisdom, and Hippocampus among other journals. In 2018, AprilJo was honored as a Publisher’s Weekly Star Watch Honoree for her innovative contributions to the publishing industry.
